After an unfortunate opening race at Misano, Michele Beretta is ready to bounce back at his home circuit, the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, which will host the second round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship on the weekend of June 21–23.
For the Lecco-born driver, Monza is a special event, as the iconic circuit in Brianza represents his home race, where he can count on the support of friends, fans, and partners who will be cheering him on in large numbers.
Mike approaches this round with a strong desire for redemption, having collected less than he deserved so far this season—both in the GT World Challenge races and in the Italian GT Endurance opener. While the performances have been promising, a few unlucky episodes have compromised results that could have easily turned into podium finishes.
At the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo fielded by Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR), Beretta will share driving duties with teammates Andrea Frassineti and Rodrigo Testa.
The Monza race will also serve as an important test ahead of the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, scheduled for the following weekend (June 27–29), one of the most anticipated and demanding events of the global GT racing season.
“Last month’s GT World Challenge race at Monza didn’t give me the satisfaction I was hoping for. Even at Misano, in the first round of the Italian GT, we were fighting for the win until an unexpected issue took us out. We’re heading back to the track more motivated than ever, and we want to do well—we can’t afford any more mistakes. A strong result here would also give us the perfect momentum going into the 24 Hours of Spa.”
The green light for the second round of GT Endurance is scheduled for today, Friday, June 20.
TV coverage will be provided by ACISPORT TV (Sky channel 228), with live broadcasts of both qualifying and the race. Streaming will also be available on ACI Sport TV and the championship’s official social media channels (Facebook and YouTube). A delayed broadcast is also planned on Rai Sport, with the time still to be confirmed.
