On the final weekend of the International GT Open 2021, raced on the Barcelona Circuit, Michele did not fail his goal and became Champion.
After the title of the European Le Mans Series 2020 (on Porsche 911 GTE) and the 2017 Italian GT Championship (on the Lamborghini Huracan GT3), this is Michele’s third achievement in a championship of international importance reserved to the GT cars.

Since the first qualifications, Michele and his team mate, Frederik Schandorff, have regulated their performances in view of the championship. The goal was to close the games as soon as possible and they did.
The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 # 63 remained in the top positions throughout the first phase of Race-1, losing ground only in the stop, following the penalty due to those who climbed the podium in the previous races. Michele’s possible recovery, in the second part of the race, was stopped only by a Safety car which neutralized part of the final phase of the race. This did not prevent Mike and his partner from gaining the necessary points, with the sixth place, to win the title.

In Race-2, now free from classification duties, Michele made a splendid recovery from the sixth row and crossed the finish line with a well-deserved third place. For Michele, Frederik Schandorff and all Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, this was a wonderful way to celebrate a triumphal season.

n the seven double rounds in which the championship took place, Michele won four races (Paul Ricard, Spa, Hungaroring and Red Bull) and reached the podium six times, starting twice from pole position.
