There is only one weekend left to assign the 2021 GT International Open title. On the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Michele introduces himself as the leader of the standings, together with his teammate Frederik Schandorff, and will be able to rely on a team, the Vincenzo Sospiri Racing and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 which until now have represented a point of reference for everyone.
At the seventh weekend of the season Mike is the leader of the standing, having a 22-point lead over his direct rival, Andy Soucek (Porsche 911 GT3). Michele and Frederik have taken the leadership from the very beginning of the championship and consolidated it victory after victory (4) with five podiums, two pole positions, one of which achieved at Monza by Michele.
The superiority shown up to this point in the championship should not induce to underestimate the chasers, all very fast in all conditions. Michele is aware of this and shows up on the Barcelona track very focused and determined to leave nothing to chance.
“I am very focused and have a slight tension even though we are aware that we have done very well throughout the championship and in the last few races we have shown that we are the crew to beat. Even if we don’t need many points to win the championship, we know that championships are won when the last chequered flag is waved and even if the margin of points is such as to make us feel calm, we will not underestimate any aspect. “
Speaking on this, do you have a good memory in terms of championships won in the last race as an outsider?
“Yes. In 2017 I won the Italian Championship in the last race, winning race-2 and taking advantage of a zero scored in Race-1 by our direct rivals. This happy experience taught me that we should never take anything for granted and we have no intention of taking the race lighttheartedly.”
The more important phases of the Spanish round will be broadcast in live streaming on the official channel of the championship, and dedicated services will be broadcast on the thematic channel MS MotorTV / Sky 228.
