Michele Beretta’s debut in the Italian GT Championship was more than good, almost perfect: the italian driver redeems his expectations with a double podium on the “Enzo & Dino Ferrari” circuit after the not happy Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup race in Monza one week earlier.

After the 1st place overall in both free practice sessions, Michele Beretta (who shares the car with Alex Frassineti) has also been highlighted in official practice, where the duo of Ombra Racing has missed the pole position just by three tenths.

In Race 1, after the excellent start by Frassineti who step up in third position, Beretta completed the excellent job pushing at 110% the #22 Lamborghini Huracan GT3, overtaking Cheever with a perfect move, getting the checkered flag as second. In Race 2, Beretta made a perfect start recovering several positions up to the third place before the drivers change; later, Frassineti kept the third position until the last lap when the Ombra Racing duo got the second place after Melo’s mistake at Rivazza, a deserved result proven by the performance shown throughout the weekend in Imola.

I’m very happy about this my first event in the Italian GT Championship,” says Beretta, already on the way to USA where next weekend he will race in the first round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. “Our Lamborghini had a perfect setup that allowed us to have confidence and a very good pace since the free practice. In the races we have been always in fight for the win; In Race 2 I had a breathtaking start where I was forced to put the left wheels on the grass but I didn’t release the throttle, gaining some positions. Starting the season with two second places is great, I’m happy and I hope to confirm our performance even in Misano next month, where we will have 20 seconds penalty in the pit-stop.
