With 3 wins, Michele Beretta is heading to Imola as a leader of the International GT Open (together with his team mate Frederick Schandorff). On the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit, the italian driver will try to get his first pole of the season.

Next weekend the european series will see its halfway in the calendar just before the summer break: Imola, with its spectacular ups and downs, is a technical and selective circuit that highlights both car and driver performance, and for this reason it is called “Little Nurburgring”.

In Race 1, the Lamborghini Huracan #63 will have to serve a 20″ penalty during the pit-stop due to the results achieved in the latest round (win and third place at Hungaroring).

To minimize this handicap, Beretta is ready to push at 110% in qualify to get the first seasonal pole position, as declared just after the race in Hungary: “… we have to do better in qualifying. Especially at Imola, where we will serve an important penalty in Race 1, it will be essential to start from the front, I wish in pole position.

The weekend at the Enzo & Dino Ferrari racetrack will be hot, not only for the pure summer temperatures attended in Emilia Romagna: “On the eve of the race, our target is to finish the weekend at Imola being the leaders of the championship. Race 1 will be be difficult, due to the penalty we have after the victory and third place in the last race, in Hungary. The Porsche (of the direct rival in the championship Andy Soucek) has discharged the penalties and starts as the favourite. We hope that our teammates will give us a hand in Race 1, getting behind the Porsche and taking away some points. In Race 2 we will be able to play for the victory, this is our plan before the weekend begins.

Despite the 20″ penalty, Michele does not start beaten even in view of Race 1: “We will do everything to stay ahead of the Porsche. I really like the track and the car is competitive on this kind of track, so…
