After six wins in the GT World American Challenge at Sebring, Mike is getting ready to race the last round of the American series, the Indianapolis 8 Hours.
On the K-Pax Racing’s Lamborghini, in addition to Andrea Caldarelli, team-mate for almost all the US championship, there will be Marco Mapelli. On the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Italian drivers trio have what it takes to aim to the top of the standings. In the Pro category the championship has already been won by Caldarelli, also thanks to Michele’s high performance in all the races. As the championship is no longer up for grabs, the trio will be able to run free from calculations and play this important event with the mind and the foot free from conditioning.
In order to be present at the 8 HoursMike had to give up the final round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship, which takes place this weekend, at the same time with the Indianapolis race, at Monza. Giving up racing in the Italian GT EnduranceMichele had to leave all hopes of winning the Italian title.
“I am happy to finish the championship with this round at Indianapolis, a track on which I have never raced and has a great fascination for its history, even if we do not race on the oval but on the track used by F1. At the same time, I am sorry for not being able to take part in the final race of the Italian GT Endurance Championship. I knew from the beginning that we would have to make a choice and, whatever it was, it would cause a certain disappointment. Now I’m looking to the 8 hours with enthusiasm and the maximum concentration”.
The race will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the GT World American Challenge starting at 18:00 (12:00 Indiana time).
