The most attended event of 2016 Blancpain GT Series is here: Spa-Francorchamps circuit is ready to host the legendary 24 Hours endurance race next week end with over 60 cars in the entry list. Among the drivers at the starting line, even Michele Beretta and Andrea Piccini, who together Luca Stolz, are ready to fight at the wheel of Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, with which they have already shown a good competitiveness in the first part of the season, specially in the last event held in Paul Ricard. Michele Beretta will join the belgian event for the first time while for Andrea Piccini this will be the thirteenth participation in career (winner in 2012, three pole positions and several podiums).
Michele Beretta: “Spa is the most important event of the season: join the 24 Hours of Spa is something special. It will be my first 24 hours race… I can not wait! With Andrea, Luca and Grasser Racing team we have completed many test seassions to prepare this challenge in the best way. The opponents are undeniably strong, especially Audi, Mercedes and Bentley but our target is to stay in the first half of the group without any mistakes or problems.”
Andrea Piccini: “I return in Spa-Francorchamps, and after two years in the Pro-Am category, this year I come back to fight for the overall win. We have the right cards to aim for the podium , although it will be, as always, very difficult. Michele, and Luca have done very well so far, growing so much on the Huracan, as well as we have increased the feeling with all team members. In the official test day we found a good set-up which will be the starting point to work focused on the long race distance. As you know, Spa is a lottery in several ways: the weather is always so changeable and with over 60 cars on track will be critical to decide when overtaking without making mistakes. Last but not least, the race pace is another key factor. Grasser Racing worked really well in the first half of the season and we are ready to fight against Audi, Mercedes and Bentley.”
The long week end of Spa-Francorchamps will begin Wednesday, July 27 with the classic parade that will see drivers and cars to go from the circuit to the city centre, to be followed by the autograph session. The engines will turn on the day after with free practice (13:20) and pre-qualifying (17:45); from 20 to 21:15 the first qualifying session, just before the Night Qualifying (from 21:45 to 23:45).
