Ombra Racing Team and its drivers leave Silverstone circuit with a positive result in a very demand championship like Blancpain GT Series. Michele Beretta, Andrea Piccini and Stefano Gattuso finished 15th, confirming the Ombra Racing’s car the best Lamborghini Huracan under the chequered flag.

The good performance of the italian trio was built starting from the qualify, where Andrea got the 20th overall, less than 1″ from the pole position.

At the start, the tuscany driver took a quick rhythm that would allow him to gain important positions and, after a stint always at 110%, Michele jumped in the car as eleventh at the first pit stop; unfortunately, the exit of the Safety Car just after the first stop did not favor the italian trio that found itself again in fifteenth position once back on track. In the middle of the race, the young driver from Lecco was able to impress a good pace, recovering two positions after a long fight with McLaren and two other Lamborghini, leaving the car to Gattuso in thirteenth place. Stefano recovered some positions in the first laps of his stint, but then he has been forced to surrender the two Jaguars. At the end, after a fierce duel with Team Lazarus’s Lamborghini, he got the chequered flag in fifteenth position, giving to Ombra Racing the best ever result in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

Michele Beretta: “We brought home a good result, which confirms the positive work done in the last few weeks. This is just the beginning and that is why we will continue to work ahead of the next round of Le Castellet, which will be an important race both in championship optics and as a preparation for the 24 Hours of Spa at the end of July.

Andrea Piccini: “It was a weekend where the conditions of the track have changed constantly and we had to work hard to adapt the great set-up that we found on Monday in the tests. In qualifying the car was fast and without the traffic first and the red flag then, I’m sure I would be able to get into the Top 10. The twentieth position got in qualify is still considered positive. In the race we had an excellent pace, but the two Safety Cars in the first half of the race have disrupted our strategy. In any case we bring home a positive result for us and for the team, that is doing just the second season in the Blancpain GT Series and its first season in the Pro class. Before the next round we will have Michele to work again on the set-up together with the team in Misano for the Italian GT Championship race. We are confident that we can be even more competitive at Paul Ricard at the end of June.
