Michele Beretta and Andrea Piccini have finally come back in the Blancpain Endurance Series, which saw them busy last year with Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Along with Stefano Gattuso, they will be among the protagonists of the opening round that will be held this weekend at Monza, home run for the three italian drivers and Ombra Racing team.
The crew spent two days in Monza four weeks ago driving the Huracan GT3 race car just to prepare the event, that will see over 50 cars on the field.
Michele Beretta: “We arrived in Monza well prepared thanks to the test days together with Ombra Racing during which we managed to deliberate a good basic setup that we hope will allow us, with some finishing during the free practice, to be at the top in qualify and race. This year the championship level has risen again and the challenge will be really tough in the Pro class. With Andrea and Stefano we will try to aim at the top positions at once, exploiting the good speed of our Lamborghini, fundamental on a fast track like Monza. Surely there will be many friends, supporters and partners to follow us onsite and this will be a boost for us to push at 110% from the free practice.”
Andrea Piccini: “Finally I’m back on track for the Blancpain Endurance Series after a warmup in the last few weeks on the Nordschleife track. Along with Ombra Racing we have been working in the last few months, both during the tests in Monza and Le Castellet, to prepare this season in the most important european GT series. With the team and Stefano there is already a good feeling and we all aim to pick up the first points immediately. Surely we will have to fight: Mercedes and Audi have proven to be very competitive, but the latest Balance of Performance corrections could help us a bit, especially in the acceleration. In any case, we will drive from the first kilometers to bring home a good result.”
The weekend in Monza for the protagonists of Blancpain Endurance Series will begin on Saturday, April 22nd, with free practice, scheduled from 10:45 to 12:15; in the afternoon the pre-qualify (from 16:05). The qualify session is set for sunday morning, with the 53 cars on track from 09:50 to 10:50.
